A cross-curricular and practical approach to learning promotes knowledge and understanding

What we teach

The curriculum is all the activities that we organise in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. It includes not only the formal requirements of the Foundation Stage and National Curriculum, but also the range of opportunities and extra-curricular activities that the school organises in order to enrich their childhood experiences. There is planned progression in all curriculum areas and whilst some subjects are taught discretely, a cross-curricular approach is used whenever possible to enhance knowledge and understanding.

The hidden curriculum
There is a great emphasis at Fosse Bank School on the 'hidden curriculum', or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We value the way in which all children are unique, and our curriculum promotes respect for the views of each individual child, as well as for people of all cultures. The children follow the 'Golden Rules' which encourage good manners, courtesy and high standards of personal behaviour.
