Walk on Wednesday  begins 5th October 2011

We will be taking  part in  'Walk on Wednesday' throughout this year beginning on October 5th. It would be  wonderful to see as many children as possible  using sustainable travel such as walking, cycling or scooting to get to school once a week. There will be a 'Park and Stride' facility at The Flying Dutchman pub where your car can be left so that you can complete your journey on foot. The children who take part  will have a card to collect a sticker every time they 'Walk On Wednesday'. Many thanks for all your support.

Walk on Wednesday so far.....January 2012

Thank-you to everyone who has been able to walk, cycle or scoot to school on a Wednesday. So far we have taken 274 car journeys off the road. Our two Year 6 Eco-council representatives are kept busy on a Wednesday handing out stickers and recording the figures ready for Mrs Boyce to enter them on the kmwalktoschool website.

The Walled Garden

Pupils and staff have been considering how this piece of land within the school grounds could be used. Mrs Boyce has compiled the results from a questionnaire. It seems that we would like an allotment alongside a sensory garden. The next step is to draw up some plans and work out how much this could cost.

How much energy do we use in school?

Mrs Boyce has begun to collect information about how much electricity and gas we use in our building. This means regular trips into the cellar (dark and creepy!) to read the meters and record the figures. We hope that some of the older children will be involved in some interesting mathematics work to find out just how much our energy consumption is costing!
