Poor Mr Darlington was the victim of a terrible attack in the Year 6 class room, an iPad had also been stolen but was recovered at the scene in Year 6. There was blood splatter, hair fibres, mysterious footprints made in soil, a cup of luke-warm tea and a note saying 'Don't leave iPads out or else!!!. It really is a mystery but there are 5 suspects unaccounted for around the time of the crime.
Mrs Lovatt-Young
Mr Pavey
Mrs Phillips
Mrs Carpenter
and Mrs Aldridge
Not to worry though, Year 6 are on the case. They started by immediately documenting the evidence and collecting the facts.
We have also done an analysis of the soil sample collected from the footprints. The soil from the footprint contained a cleaning product that bubbles and fizzes when mixed with vinegar. Year 6 got to work using samples from the suspects shoes and found that Mrs Lovatt-Young, Mr Pavey and Mrs Phillips had all been in the same place as the attacker. Did one of them do it though?
We'll find out in the next few weeks!
Week 2:
This week Year 6 have completed two further investigations. They completed a chromatography experiment where they put an ink dot on filter paper, put the paper in water and observed the ink seperating as it was dragged up the page. The ink from the note left in the room was able to be analaysed this way so Year 6 new what to expect from the potential culprits ink. This test was done using different pens gathered from the 5 suspects and comparingthe pigments to the culprit's ink.
Year 6 also conducted a blood splatter analysis where they dropped blood (red paint and water) from differing heights and measuring the splat. It turns out the culprit had a cut on the tip of their middle finger (what a coincidence) leaving splats of bloods at the crime scene. Through their experiment Year 6 have found the height of the potential attackers hand in a rested position.
They are certainly getting closer to an arrest.
